• CBT (COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY)

CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy refers to a group of interventions that are based on identifying and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior to positively impact emotions. It assumes that people’s thoughts affect their emotions, and focuses on how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors affect each other. Alongside Jasmine, you collaborate together to learn skills to better manage your mental health.

For most problems, CBT involves 6-12, 50 minutes session of psychotherapy. At the beginning of treatment, you will discuss your current problems and treatment goals. After such treatment goals have been established, you will then spend your session learning techniques for challenging your symptoms and changing target behaviours. Weekly homework varies, but it typically consists of some combination of monitoring your thoughts, challenging your assumptions and beliefs, and/or experimenting with new behaviours.

At the beginning of your therapy, it is important to meet once each week to build momentum. However, as therapy progresses and you start to become confident with the learned technique, the time between your appointments will likely be increased to once every two weeks or once each month.

Online video treatment with CBT has been proven to be as effective as face-to-face therapy.
