Do you experience knee or hip pain?

If yes, the GLA:D program might be for you!
Starting Tuesday March 17th, 2020, Coast Therapy will be offering the GLA:D Canada Program, an 8 week group exercise and education program specifically for individuals with symptoms of hip and/or knee Osteoarthritis. GLAD will be instructed by a Coast Therapy Physiotherapist and certified BCAK Kinesiologist. The program can help you become more physically active, improve your quality of life, and participation in GLAD may delay or prevent the need for surgery. GLAD Canada is supported by Bone and Joint Canada, The Arthritis Society, and the Physiotherapy Association of BC.

Location and Details

Where: Coast Therapy Coquitlam- 1112a Austin Avenue, Coquitlam
When: The 8 week program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays starting March 17 from 4pm to 5pm. Assessments will take place from March 2 to 13.
Cost: $420 ($30 per session- 2 education and 12 exercise sessions)
* A deposit of $210 will be due at the beginning and halfway point of the program.
** A receipt for $30 will be provided after each session for private insurance coverage purposes.




Do I need to be diagnosed with Osteoarthritis or be a hip/knee surgical patient to participate
in GLAD?

No! The GLAD program is for patients with stiff/painful knees and/or hips, and/or diagnosis of OA of the hips/knees.

What are the benefits of this program?

This program will help patients improve their function and manage their pain, while making participants feel engaged in exercise for the long term.

What do the education and exercise sessions involve?

The two education sessions will teach participants about OA risk factors, symptoms and self management skills. The exercise sessions will be 60 minutes in length, and will involve exercises and movement to improve posture and build muscular strength.

Can I claim the cost of this program on my private insurance plan?

If Physiotherapy is a benefit provided by your health care insurance provider, than you will be able to claim the cost of the GLAD program through your insurance.

How do I get started?

Call our office and book your assessment with our physiotherapist. The assessment involves a physical assessment and some functional tests to determine your suitability for the GLAD program. Once you are assessed and approved for the program, you can register for the 2 education and 12 exercise sessions.
